What does UNC/UNF stand for?

UNC threads are Unified National Coarse threads. UNF threads are Unified National Fine threads. UNC threads have larger pitches (greater distances between threads) and can bear larger tensile forces, while UNF threads have smaller pitches and can screw in tighter.
